About AIP

Association for Independent Practitioners (AIP), formerly Personal Relationship Groupwork (PRG), is a Division of the BACP.

Who joins the Association for Independent Practitioners (AIP)?

BACP member counsellors involved in working independently rather than organisationally with a range of counselling clients and their issues - and those who may also provide group-work, plus counselling trainees who have yet to establish their counselling direction.

What's AIP about?

It's about providing an interesting, friendly, welcoming Division of BACP that is accessible and provides you with a sense of professional belonging.

A busy, energetic and committed Committee ensures that member's needs are heard and acted on - from networking to combat isolation, to providing professional training to support professional development.

Emphasis is placed on the maintenance of clear boundaries and the provision of appropriate support and supervision. Equal Opportunities are an integral part of AIP's philosophic practice and members from different cultures or groups are actively encouraged to join.

What's in it for me?

  • The Independent Practitioner - four journals that provide a forum to inform and to question
  • The latest counselling developments
  • A forum for debate and excellent networking
  • Opportunities for professional development
  • Representation of your professional interests within BACP and elsewhere
  • Practitioner consultations
  • Autumn practitioner day
